A super galactic explosion of color and charisma–Iggy Astro is here to rock, roll, and crush JOBBERS into stardust!

Former lead singer of the Brazilian glam rock band, Vanity Paradise, Iggy is a true Renaissance person. Though their first love will always be music, they are a deadly martial artist and even more formidable spellbreaker who has managed to perfect the usage of a rare, typically non-violent glyph.

Iggy grew up in Rio De Janeiro, on the border between a middle class neighborhood and a favela. They are from a mixed background. Their father was a professor and their mother a freedom fighter who helped spark ‘‘A Revolução Encantada’, an uprising that took place during the breakdown of colonial powers and collapse of the Alban Empire. Iggy was born on the day when the government was ousted, and thus they were named (Inácio) for the ‘fire’ and ‘light’ of the revolution. Though they have no qualms being referred to by their given name, they prefer the more gender neutral 'Ináci'.

Some say the revolution did not gone far enough. Widespread poverty still existed long after, as did civil unrest. Ever watchful of reprisal or vengeance from opposing factions, Iggy’s parents were strict and overprotective, forbidding Iggy from the ‘corrupting influence’ of rock and roll music and spellbreaking. Both seemed the sweetest vices to a young, impressionable Inácio. Having witnessed magi subjected to all manner of torture and violence during the revolution, Iggy’s parents also forbade him from using his rare gift of light magick–which they feared could attract the influence from government officials or criminal enterprises. Iggy quite literally had to hide their light for some time, and developed deep-rooted psychological issues because of this.

Despite conflict, Iggy’s formative years were not all doom and gloom. An upbringing in fine arts, classical music, and dance served Iggy well. In fact, it was dance–as well as martial arts–that broadened Iggy’s horizons.

After standing up to, and subsequently falling-out with their parents, Iggy was kicked out of home (though Iggy and their parents would later reconcile). He turned to a mix of bartending, busking, drag performance, escorting, and pit fighting to get by. Their charismatic personality attracted many friends and lovers, but it was hard for Iggy to wash away the stench of his ‘intellectual’ upbringing. Yet the freedom of their ‘second life’, as they called it, allowed Iggy to explore new facets of themselves–magick, sexuality, gender identity, romance, and the thrill of fighting!

Iggy’s breakout success came from forming the band Vanity Paradise alongside their talented friends, many of whom came from disadvantaged backgrounds or were fellow children of the revolution. Vanity Paradise went on to tour Brazil for some time, though they found less success abroad. As the band began to drift apart, its members pursuing other passions, Iggy was at last financially secure enough to start investing in spellbreaking training, which they saw as an extension of their theatricality. With a combo of capoeira, brazilian jiu jitsu, and pro wrestling know-how, they were able to synthesize a fighting style just as colorful and unique as their personality.

Perhaps a compulsion towards rebellion helped influence Iggy’s heelish nature, or it was was a deliberate artistic choice to invert expectations over light magick users being considered 'peaceful'. Far from being a violent sadist such as Vahni Rage, Iggy’s arrogance and superiority (as well as predation on ‘basic’ spellbreakers) fuels their dominance. They are known for grandstanding, light-show style entrances that outshine any opponent’s ringside walk-up. In battle, they use their light magic to creative–and painful affect–often blinding their opponents through devious moves. They can also create constructs of light, which disrupt magick and distract their opponents.

Their ring style always turns heads–and not just from their guillotine chokes and head scissors either! Iggy is a fashionista, always sporting new entrance gear, which they usually rip away for a body reveal. Controversially, though certainly befitting their Brazilian heritage, Iggy prefers wearing thongs in battle–to the envy of other spellbreakers like Spike. A creature of excess, Iggy employs two highly theatrical power finishers in their arsenal. For lightweight opponents, their Galactic Headbanger–a modified Bulldog–smashes their opponents into a star-shaped light construct, knocking them out with force and bright light. Their more dramatic finisher, the Supernova Press, is a shooting star press that sees their light magick transforming them into a human comet with just as much impact!

Even though Iggy is well-versed in submission techniques from their BJJ background, their submission finisher, a pendulum swing variant called the Stardust Swing, is decidedly more pro wrestling oriented. After locking their opponent’s legs and arms around them in a painful ‘human wheel bower’, they smash their victim repeatedly into one of their star-shaped light constructs. Iggy Astro isn’t above a good sleeper (especially between their legs) either. Adding insult to injury, they can create ‘light graffiti’ with their magick, and they enjoy ‘autographing’ their unconscious opponents with humiliating messages that won’t come off for days! They’re especially fond of watching their defeated opponents have to spellbreak in subsequent matches with their autograph still glowing brightly on their bodies.

Iggy is in an open relationship with fellow GSA spellbreaker, El Amante Intóxico (who often goes by Victor among fellow trainees). On campus, they are known for their outlandish outfits, cutting wit, sharp tongue, humor, and generosity. When in residence at the GSA, Iggy sometimes performs rock concerts at the local drag bar, Bronco Buster’s Rainbow Saloon.

Iggy's third solo, studio album, with artwork featuring fellow Spellbreaker, Spike. 'StarSeduction' includes hits likes, 'Cosmic Horror Love, 'StarSeduction', 'Camel Clutch My Heart', 'Excessive Machine', and 'Rings of Uranus', many of which are currently charting.

"Even though I kicked his gorgeous ass when we first met, Spike is a natural when it comes to showing off, and a total sweetheart. We had a lot of fun with this shoot. After I absolutely ravaged him and kissed him all over, he was totally willing to be my little love slave for this cover art."

One of several different approach's for Iggy's look. Originally, they were blonde. Their natural hair color is, in fact, a dark brown. Iggy's signature ring style is based off Carnaval colors. Before choosing 'Iggy Astro' as their professional nom de plume, they went through a few rejected stage names such as 'Electric Eddie' and 'Jace Supernova'.

Not only did Iggy absolutely brutalize Cadet Stevie's abs during this infamous match, but he left behind a mocking piece of light graffiti as well! "He was such a biscoiteiro in his little army gear. More like a toy soldier! And I definitely made that boy into my toy! So what if I took a picture to remind myself from time to time? Take that tone with me, interviewer, and you might just get something nice to remember me by as well..."

"I can't resist some outfit variation. Surprisingly, some of my more modest designs, inspired by capoeira. The purple and red set pay homage to someone very special in my life."

"When I'm not composing music or breaking bones, I love going to the beach with my friends. The nude beach especially. Hey, what are you looking at? You naughty hunk! Do you want this to be more than just an interview, kitten? Well, since your mouth is watering so much, let me put it to good use..."

"Now that's a real Rio welcome from your star-studded stud! Looks like you could use another beach towel, gatinho..."

Battle Quotes:

“You little boys ready to rumble with the rock and roll god!?”

“This song's called 'Tap, Nap, or Snap!' I think you're gonna like it...”

"What's wrong? Blinded by my glory?

“Kiss it, loser!”

“You'll be seeing stars after this! Let's head bang!”

“Here, padrãozinho, have an autograph. What was your name again? Ah, doesn't matter...

Given Name: John Henry Iron

Age: Unknown (though appears to be in his late forties)

Birthday: September 17th

Height: 6’7”

Weight: 278 Lbs

Country of Representation: U.S.A.

Fighting Style: Traditional Grappling, Power Moves

Glyph: Laurion (Mineral and Metal Magick)

Power Finisher: The Runaway Train

Submission Finisher: The Iron Claw

Favorite Food: His wife’s cooking

Likes: Science, metallurgy, hard work, engineering, travel, live music, whisky, his family, training rookies, activism, Spellbreaking, folklore, history, trainspotting, unions, running a business.

Dislikes: Ignorant people, those who abuse power, being late, people who are late, laziness, those who take advantage of others, pollution, Firebird Pro Spellbreaking.

'The Iron TItan' is ready to show these young upstarts HE'S STILL the real king of the ring! There’s no avoiding this runaway train!

Mr. Iron (or just John Henry to his friends) is as a towering colossus of a man, who can bend steel beams with either brawn or magick. Renowned in the industry as one of the great veterans, he was once both rival and friend to other champs like Colt the Bolt. He is now semi-retired, preferring to spellbreak for smaller federations and local shows, as he prefers the lack of pretension. He enjoys working with younger and eager spellbreakers.

Mr. Iron was one of the bigger names on the East Coast and southern spellbreaking circuits before he settled down to start both a family and business in Brooklyn. It is long rumored that it was none other than Mr. Iron who convinced Colt the Bolt to get out of the ring while the business was still kind to him. Though the two fighters frequently clashed, they also tag teamed several times throughout their illustrious careers, and are still close friends and confidants. He is considered one of the best spellbreaking teachers in the business, but prefers to 'keep it local', only working with the promoter and manager Varla Montes. The shadow sorceress and former showgirl–famously difficult to work with–has often said that she would only trust John Henry with her business. As such, he has a sterling reputation.

Despite his good nature and storied career, Iron’s background and early beginnings are a mystery, proving something of a tantalizing legend among spellbreaking enthusiasts. Though he is open and friendly to a fault, J.H. keeps his cards close to his chest and even his closest associates are never quite sure of his next moves. The world of spellbreaking has seen many heroes from tall tales and legends pass through the ranks, and considerable debate rages as to whether or not Mr. Iron is really the folkloric John Henry from legend. He has always played candid and coy about his namesake, preferring to let the mystery serve as publicity. Some fans of his even speculate he's the son of the legend--i.e. that J.H. is, in fact, a ‘Junior’!

Beyond this, John Henry has connections with many top-ranking magi all over the world, and keeps his ear close to the ground, listening for any meddling into the arcane. Of all the spellbreakers based in the United States, he is the most observant of Firebird’s dubious dealings–to the point that there are actually rumors he may be a spy for the US government. This, however, is not true–as J.H. has an implicit distrust of authority. Whatever his dealings may be, they are done on his own terms.

Mr. Iron is a renaissance man. In addition to spellbreaking, he has worked as an engineer and a scientist with a proficiency in metallurgy. He also has a few patents to his name, and has written a book on practical uses of metal-based magick. John Henry’s glyph, ‘Laurion’, grants him the ability to turn his body into an alloy like steel for a short time. He can even cast off the metal generated from his body and reshape it, using it as a projectile. As he is primarily a grappler when resorting to physical combat, he would use these metal missiles to bridge the gap between him and his opponents. A unique side-effect of his body undergoing repeat mineral composition shifts over the years, Mr. Iron's eyes have permanently changed color to a golden-citrine hue.

In the ring, Iron’s raw strength is unparalleled. He favors power moves and grappling, able to toss grown men around with ease. His Runaway Train clothesline–enhanced by his metal arm–has put even the most seasoned spellbreakers out of commission for weeks! His Iron Claw–a nerve claw on the head–is a deadly submission hold that has quite literally crushed his opponent’s skulls in the past! Though rarely employed, he has an alternate move called 'The Garbage Compactor', wherein he stuns his opponents with a 'most muscular' flex--and then uses his metal arms to smash his opponents into his enormous chest, completely smothering them. Allegedly, this move was Colt's idea back in the day...

An alternate color scheme for Mr. Iron. John Henry doesn't preen as much as the other guys, but he's been known to wear more revealing gear on occasion (mostly at Colt's suggestion...)

John Henry was sometimes called 'The Chest' due to his...well...formiddible pectorals. Colt convinced him to come up with an alternative submission technique called The Trash Compactor, that involves smothering his opponent with his pecs. Unsurprisingly (and, perhaps, disappointing to some), Mr. Iron rarely employs it. "This is a family show, Colt!"

Mr. Iron's traditional gear is a nod to his railway background. He used the cog/gear button to give himself a bit of flair. A humble guy, he keeps it simple, which is why his tag teaming with Colt back in the day was such an amusing contrast!

Mr. Iron, an American Hero!

In their younger years, Mr. Iron and Colt were not above a bit of locker room rivalry. When Colt attempted to show his friend who was the big, swinging dick of their tag team, Mr. Iron gave him an even bigger surprise before humbling his buddy!

Battle Quotes:

“Class is in session--and teach is gonna knock you out!”

“Hard as steel!”

“Eyes up here, sailor!”

“Muscles made of metal! I caught you lookin'.”

“Tied to the tracks; no escape!”

“And that's how you spellbreak, son!

Weight: 255 Lbs

Country of Representation: India

Fighting Style: Heel techniques

Glyph: Pyr (Fire Magick) Note: In India, this Glyph is known as the Mark of Agni

Power Finisher: Agneyastra

Submission Finisher: The Funeral Pyre

Favorite Food: His mother’s cooking

Likes: Hurting people, money, tailored suits, wristwatches, sunglasses, travel, being the best, winning, pretty men, politics, Mumbai, visiting temples, big parties, champagne, rasgulla,  business, Spike.

Dislikes: Jobbers, those who challenge him, sentiment, whiners, weaklings, playing fair, mercy, those who are cruel to animals, tag teams, Spike.

When you enter the ring with 'The Rage', there’s just one question–will he leave you utterly broken…or burnt to a crisp?

Everybody loves a bad guy, and Vahni Rage is all too happy to play the villain in every pathetic spellbreaker’s story. ‘The Rage’ (as he is sometimes called) is a handsome nightmare and giant of a man who lives for beating down his opponents and bringing the heat to the spellbreaking circuit.

Born in Odisha, Vahni’s uncle later moved the family to Mumbai to better administer the soma refineries under the family’s control. Before soma became an industry, however, Vahni’s family came from a line of esteemed temple protectors known as the Fire Guardians, all whom expressed the fire glyph. The men were charged with both protecting the priesthood and the women were expected to tend to the temple hearths and braziers. However, after a schism within the family lineage, Vahni’s rather large family split–with the traditionalists staying behind to carry out their scared tasks, and the more modern set taking control of the soma business.

It’s no wonder that Vahni, therefore, always had a shrewd mind for business and though his tactics are underhanded, outside of the ring he is a professional. He is a major shareholder in one of the most important soma mines in the world, something that no doubt caught the eye of Simeon Grigorivich, the president of Firebird Pro Spellbreaking, who approached Vahni early on to be part of Firebird’s star talent. Vahni quickly made short work of their roster and began taking on champions in Asia and Europe. His popularity allegedly surged during his early days when, not realizing the extent of his pyrokinetic abilities, he accidentally burnt all of his gear off his body–earning him a hefty fine from the centos but thousands of new fans! He has since switched to flame-resistant gear.

Vahni is heel to the core, and willing to do anything to win a match, including ignoring both the ref and the cries of his opponents! He is proud, confident, and cocky, though this sometimes stems from an earnest desire to see more representation of South Asian spellbreakers on the scene. Though he would never admit it, he plays up his warrior nature in the hopes it might someday open the door for other spellbreakers from his part of the world. Still, don’t let these hints of altruism fool you–Vahni is one of the most sadistic spellbreakers around. He has an appetite for especially pretty or innocent-looking spellbreakers and crushing them utterly. A favorite tactic of his–that gets all of his equally sadistic fans going–is giving his opponents (or victims) a ‘crimson mask’ (bloody face), and then lighting the fresh blood on fire to temporarily blind his opponent. His fire is so intense that it can also cause permanent damage, which he employs in giving his defeated combatants the ‘mark of humility’ , a permanent facial brand that marks them as conquest. Many a spellbreaking career has been cut short because of foolishly stepping into the ring with this menace! Vahni is not often satisfied unless he has drawn blood or broken at least one bone, and conveniently ignores the match bell, not letting up on his beatdowns until he’s bored of his victim’s limp body.

Outside of the ring, Vahni enjoys the finer things in life, and he spares no expense at keeping up his hedonistic lifestyle. He enjoys flaunting his wealth–expensive suits, watches, cars, you name it. He enjoys that this makes him appear to the public even more like a dick, but he has secretly ensured his rather extensive family’s comfort. Rumor has it even moved his own mother into his Mumbai mansion because he couldn’t bare to live without her cooking…though the reporter who leaked this fact has since gone missing.

Vahni first laid eyes on Sailor Boy Spike during the up-and-comer’s debut match, and has hungered for a match with him ever since–mostly to destroy him and end his career! He is truthfully attracted to Spike, but this is not necessarily a good thing, as Vahni’s bloodlust always spells certain doom for the objects of his desire/destruction. He yearns for the day when he’ll make Spike bleed, cry, and then give him his permanent mark. The heat between them quickly becomes the talk of the spellbreaking world–the perfect hero vs villain matchup–and Vahni plays into this all too well, as a perfect business opportunity.

Vahni’s fight style is brutal and flashy, employing an array of heel moves designed to maximize pain and damage. Anything from backbreakers to eye gouging is on the table! It’s all the same when it comes to harnessing the powers of his glyph, as Vahni has been known to literally breathe fire into his opponent’s faces (mostly boy-next-door, all-American types). His most infamous move, and one of the most feared moves in all of spellbreaking, is his Funeral Pyre, a torture rack that–if weren’t spine breaking enough–culminates in Vahni literally lighting his opponent’s body on fire with his own extreme heat! To this day, nobody has escaped it, nor has Vahni ever listened to a yield or tap. Vahni’s luckier opponents will instead meet his equally vicious Agneyastra, a brutal backbreaker over his scalding knee, leaving both a massive burn scar and a broken spine!

Though he won’t tell anybody, his real name is Kanhu.

Rage's 'Funeral Pyre' finisher is a torture rack with the added sensation of being grilled alive! Ever the sadist, Rage has even forced his jobbers to choose 'broken spine or burnt to a crisp' before! Thankfully, the power of soma makes all injuries--even the most deadly looking ones--temporary. That is, except for Rag's cursed 'mark of humility'!

Rage makes an entrance by burning off his entrance gear!

He knows he's about to be marked...

Spike and Rage are sworn enemies. Still, there is an unspoken tension between them that isn't all negative. One might even call it an attraction!

Battle Quotes:

“Burn in the presence of greatness!”

“Pathetic...”

“Ignore that one, ref, or YOU'RE NEXT.”

“Too much pain? Don't worry, I'll fix that...”

“Have a preview of Hell...because that's where I'm about to send you!”

“And now my brand is burnt into your worthless flesh forever...

Colt "The Bolt" Tamberly

Character Artwork by All_DrawParty

Given Name: Colton Tamberly

Age: 45

Birthday: December 9th

Height: 6'4"

Weight: 270 Lbs

Country of Representation: Republic of Texas

Fighting Style: American Pro Wrestling / Grappling

Glyph: Keraunos (Storm Magic)

Power Finisher: Thunderbolt Piledriver

Submission Finisher: The Texas Electric Chair

Favorite Food: BBQ ribs...with lots of pickles and jalapenos on the side

Likes: Spellbreaking, high quality liquor, beer, balancing the budget, business opportunities, women (and maybe men...), parties, learning about people, horseback riding, watching sports, rodeos, cowboy boots, mentorship, spending time with his son.

Dislikes: Laziness, closed mindedness, being told what to do, back-talk, villains and dastards, sitting still, those who hurt women and children.

'The Cowboy King', 'the Lord of the Lightning Lariat', 'The Stunning Sensation from the Lone Star Nation', and the President of the Global Spellbreaking Alliance.

There was a time not long ago when "Colt the Bolt" was a household name, and to this day he is still regarded as a legend in the upper echelons of spellbreaking, synonymous with the word 'champion'. During his heyday, Colt commanded both fear and admiration from his opponents, winning the title belt several times over with his shocking power and muscle. Indeed, he even shocked the world when he retired after little over a decade in the business, long enough not to become just a 'flash in the pan', but short enough that he didn't remain on the lips of spellbreaking marks for too long.

But Colt would tell you---over a glass or two of fine bourbon, of course---that he 'got out at the right time'. His reasons, however, are varied. Despite his bombastic personality and electrifying attitude in the ring, Colt has always kept his cards close to his (exceedingly large) chest. That's the thing about Colt the Bolt---he's never been one to telegraph his moves. Some say issues with family forced him to retire while he was still young. Darker rumors even point to a battle with alcoholism. The likely reason is that Colt--who has played both heel and face alike---saw the direction pro spellbreaking was heading and decided to take control while he still had the power.

And with Colt the Bolt, it's all about power! Everything this guy does is 'big', whether it's a power move (either in the wrestling sense, or the business sense) or his generosity. It's no secret that, outside of the ring Colt has a huge heart. He has a very protective instinct, especially towards younger spellbreakers, has often been compared to the god Zeus for his lighting-striking powers, regal demeanor, generosity, fatherliness, and infamous lack of self control when it comes to keeping it in his pants (something he has thankfully learned to control later in life). Friends would tell you that Colt can talk earnestly with just anybody on the Goddess' green Earth, be they king or pauper. He has always embodied his ring persona and remained a hero and champion for the people.

Despite that, Colt's demons are known. His childhood was spent under the thumb of his domineering father, who expected him to carry on the family legacy maintaining the ranch. Colt rarely discusses his formative years. But, after breaking out into spellbreaking and then retiring while the money was still good, Colt went back and converted his family ranch into a spellbreaking training school and federation headquarters. Here is where he founded the Global Spellbreaking Alliance.

Though many look up to Colt as the ideal man, he is often scatter-brained, overly enthusiastic, clumsy, and irritable. Some have compared him to a rambunctious puppy in the body of a 6'"4, 270 pound titan. He can be quick to anger, with a quite literal tempestuous personality. You see, his magical prowess is so great that he has been known to cause short-lived thunderstorms---and even the occasional twister---when he gets riled up. He only uses non-electric technology for his personal business assets--such as typewriters and punch calculators--as his ambiant electricity has a bad habit of frying machinery.

Though Colt tries to be a family man, he was a known philanderer and womanizer in his spellbreaking days, sowing endless misfortune (as well as seed). Insiders point to this as one of the reasons he quit the game early, and these days Colt tries to make amends. Unfortunately, in taking on a fatherly role, coaching up-and-coming talent and trying to remain supportive, he often neglects his actual son who works as an illustrator and media coordinator for the GSA.

Though his spellbreaking career is over (for now) Colt still makes the occasional guest appearance or two, happily stoking rumors of him 'coming out of retirement'---no gossip being bad gossip if it drums up more business, of course. This is probably for the best, as Colt is one of the toughest, roughest spellbreakers around, his magnanimous attitude rarely extending to his attitude inside a ring. Colt ended a few careers in his heyday, and he isn't above teaching any upstart or villain who challenges his superiority a lesson in pain.

Colt's spellbreaking style has been called 'textbook', as he makes use of both magic and muscle to great effect during his matches. He commands electricity in all forms, channelling it with creativity and precision. His dreaded submission move--appropriately named the Texas Electric Chair--is a neck-breaking full nelson that--if not torturous enough--is compounded even more by running a 1,000 volt current through his opponent, leaving them a drooling, convulsing mess om the canvas before they can even cry out "I give!". His signature move, the Thunderbolt Piledriver, has never seen a 'kick-out'.

For such a paragon of masculinity, Colt loves his colorful gear, and fancies himself a regular 'rhinestone cowboy'. "When it comes to ring-wear, these young bucks gotta' get over any way they can. You worked for your body--show the damn thing off, I say! Wear something skimpy that the ladies and the men will both drool over."

"Here comes the storm!" Words you definitely don't want to hear if Colt has you in his clutches! There's a good reason why Colt's Thunderbolt Driver is one of the most feared finishers in the business. With a thousand volts of pure pain, and an impact to the spine, it leaves his opponents twitching and convulsing on the mat until he reverses their damage with some more electricity...and a humiliating kick to the back of the neck!

Colt's favorite promo pic, to mark his first match since quitting the big leagues and starting the Global Spellbreaking Alliance. Designed in-universe by his talented son, Buck, but designed in our universe by the extraordinarily talented @tana_taka_3rder

Though a gentleman and a nice guy, Colt cuts an intimidating figure, striking villain's hearts with lightning bolts of righteousness. "It's all in the eyebrows. And the muscles!"

Colt and El Amante share a mutual respect. But they hold nothing back when facing each other in the ring! Seems like Colt is too oblivious to be swayed by El Amante's charms, and punishes the loverboy with a nasty Thunderbolt Piledriver!

Battle Quotes:

“Howdy, howdy, let's get rowdy!"

“You're fixin' for a real whoopin' aren'tcha?”

"Get ready for a thousand volts of pure punishment, boy!"

“Save a horse, ride a...er...”

"You're about to be down on the range, son! Here comes the storm!”

“What did daddy tell ya about playing with the big boys? Looks like you learned today, son.
